Was/were
‘Be’ ले simple past मा ‘थियो, थिए’ आदि अर्थ दिन्छ र निम्न संरचनाको प्रयोग गरेर simple past मा प्रयोग गरिन्छ ।
Subject + was/were + noun/adjective
Subject + was/ were + not + noun/adjective
Was/Were+ subject+ noun/adjective?
Wh+ was/were+ subject+ noun/adjective?

| म हिजो इन्टरभ्यूमा ढिला भएँ ।
I was late to the interview. उनीहरू घरमा थिएनन् । They were not at home. मौसम कस्तो थियो ? What was the weather like? उसका बाआमा कस्ता थिए? – निकै मित्रवत् । What were his parents like? – Very amicable. तिम्रो गाउँ कस्तो थियो ? What was your village like? हामी छुट्टीमा हुँदा मोसम राम्रो थिएन । The weather was not nice while we were on holiday. केटाकेटीमा तिमीलाई केटीदेखि डर लाग्थ्यो ? Were you afraid of girls in childhood? हामी त्यति राम्रा विद्यार्थी थिएनौं । We were not very good students. घरमा कोही थिएन । There was nobody at home. खाट मुनि घिस्रँदै गरेको सर्प थियो । There was a snake slithering under the bed. यो कलमको मूल्य कति पर्यो ? How much was this pen? |
