Lesson 5: Simple present tense: negative

अकरण बनाउन (खाँदैन, गर्दैन आदि भन्न) do/does not प्रयोग गर्नु पर्छ । I/we/you/they/plural सँग do (don’t) र He/she/it/singular सँग does not (doesn’t) प्रयोग गरिन्छ । यसलाई तलको तालिकाबाट प्रष्ट पारिएको छ ।

I/we/you/they do not (don’t)	read    like    work    live    watch      do     have
He/she/it (does not (doesn’t)	read    like    work    live    watch      do     have

Structures in a gist:

Subject + v1/v5+ obj (खान्छ)

Subject+ do/does+ not+ v1+ obj (खाँदैन)

Do/Does+ subject+ v1+ obj? (खान्छ ?)

Wh+ do/does+ subject+ v1+ obj? (के खान्छ?)

Examples:

I like chocolates but I don’t like ice-creams.

Radha drinks coffee but she does not drink tea.

I don’t understand the instructions.

He doesn’t like pizza.

She doesn’t have any money.

They don’t speak French.

Sue does not work hard.

My father does not watch TV very often.

The weather is usually nice in Nepal. It does not rain very often.

They don’t know many people here.

We don’t live in the city.

You don’t need to bring a gift.

I don’t have time for a break.

He doesn’t listen to classical music.

She doesn’t wear high heels.

We share mutual hatred. I don’t like her and she does not like me.

My bike does not use much petrol.

Sometimes he is early, but it does not happen very often.

She does not like washing dishes. She does not do it very often.

Sarita speaks Newari but she does not speak English.

Pita does not usually drink Alcohol.
